Living in Rennes |
Rennes regional capital of over 451,000 inhabitants and counting some 68,000 students, is just at a 1h30 distance from the heart of Paris by high speed train. The city boasts a highly efficient public transport network : a dense bus network, one metro line and soon a second metro line (the Rennes Atalante station will be 200 m. away from our campus).
Historic sites (Parlement, Mairie, Opéra, maisons anciennes, ...), cultural institutions (musée des Beaux-Arts, Champs libres, Le Liberté, Espace des sciences, TNB, major festivals Transmusicales), …), parks and gardens (Parc du Thabor), Conference facilities (Les Jacobins), markets (marché des lices, …), welcome services for foreign students (Cité internationale Paul Ricœur, Centre de mobilité internationale) and many other places and events contribute to the wealth and diversity of the city.
Beyond Rennes, there are numerous destinations in Brittany and Normandy to visit, often less than one hour away, e.g. the privateer city of Saint-Malo, one of the hotspots for offshore racing, or the historic landmark Mont Saint-Michel.
